In spite of the many challenges the South African tourism industry have had to endure, it is heart-warming to know that the incredible hospitality showed by South Africans toward foreign tourists still rises above all adversity.
Local agent and Super Spar go the extra mile
A great case in point was a recent story of the actions of BidTravel consultant Judy who is with New Frontiers Tours, working on the foreign travel agency ‘Aardvark’ account. Judy went out of her way to provide top service to her clients travelling here from the USA. They were to do a self-drive in the Kgalagadi game park, but an Airlink flight time change to Upington meant shopping for supplies was going to delay them getting into the park.
Judy e-mailed the Superspar in Upington, who themselves were incredibly helpful offering to keep a cashier on late to do the shopping for the visitors and keep their doors open after hours, so they needed only to pay and collect their supplies. It was a triumph of collective effort and hospitality and is typical of how SA is opening their arms and ready to welcome Tourists, regardless of whatever challenges we face!LIDIA FOLLI
