Bali proposes travel bubble for vaccinated travellers

Bali’s vice governor has proposed the establishment of a travel corridor for vaccinated travellers.

Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati offered several suggestions for the Bali’s impending reopening such as creating a travel corridor for vaccinated travellers from countries that have implemented mass vaccination like China as well as to prioritise vaccination for tourism workers to boost the confidence of international tourists.

In response, Sandiaga Uno, minister of tourism and creative economy, said that the tourism and health department are in talks for the travel corridor is in its final stages. Under the plan, vaccinated travellers will be exempted from quarantine.

Uno said, “The plan is that tourists who are allowed to come are those who have been vaccinated at their home countries. (Upon arrival in Indonesia), they have to take an antigen test (and test negative) before they can (proceed to) do activities.”

Meanwhile, the Bali administration has requested the central government to extend a soft loan amounting to USD712 million to aid travel companies in Bali.

Bali’s full reopening still depends on the national government reopening borders to international travellers.
